The physical foundation
Every switch, AP, and camera is only as reliable as the cable behind it. Structured cabling is the standardized, documented physical layer that everything else depends on. Done right, it lasts 15–20 years and supports every technology upgrade in between.
The building blocks

| MDF (Main Distribution Frame) | The central hub — core switching, ISP handoff, patch panels, and UPS. |
| IDF (Intermediate Distribution Frame) | Per-floor or per-area closets connected to the MDF by fiber backbone. |
| Backbone cabling | Fiber links between MDF and IDFs — typically OM4 multimode or OS2 single-mode. |
| Horizontal cabling | CAT6A runs from IDF to work-area outlets (≤ 90m per ANSI/TIA-568). |
Why the standard matters
ANSI/TIA-568 defines distances, performance, labeling, and testing so your cabling is predictable, certifiable, and future-proof. Deviating from the standard — longer runs, wrong cable grade, missing test documentation — creates problems that are expensive to diagnose and fix after walls are closed.
- 90-meter rule for horizontal CAT6A runs (plus patch cords at each end).
- Labeling on both ends of every cable and at the patch panel.
- Certification testing (Fluke DSX) proving each run meets spec — required for warranty.
- Grounding & bonding (TMGB/TGB) for safety and signal integrity.
New construction coordination
